It's been a while....

Quite a bit has gone on since our last update over a month ago. The highlights include Grayson's first plane ride, a chest x-ray, learning to bounce and a TOOTH!

We spent a week out in Oklahoma in June and had a great time. We had a wonderful time introducing Grayson to family and we know he had a fabulous time too :)

Grayson with his Great Grandpa!

Grayson with Grandpa and his Great Grandma!

Grayson and Vivienne! He looks HUGE!

Can't forget a picture of his dollar bill on the wall at Edna's! He's G-Racer- don't ask how I came up with 'Racer' as a nickname because I have no idea!

After Oklahoma we stopped in Denver for a few days to see Beth, Farris and Cooper.

We went to the Zoo

After the Zoo the guys (aka Grayson and Cooper) hung out in the rain forest

Cooper let Grayson borrow his car

Grayson played some frisbee golf with dad and Farris

Beth got some amazing belly laughs out of G!

We've also spent a lot of time at Sarah's sunny pool!

Like I mentioned above, Grayson had to have a chest x-ray for a cough that he's had for a couple of months now. The Dr. ordered an x-ray just to double check to make sure all was well with his lungs. The x-ray showed his lungs to be in perfect shape! Once those results were back our Dr. diagnosed Grayson with reflux and put him on Zantac. I'd thought for a few weeks that maybe he had a little reflux- he always slept better propped up, he got the hiccups a lot and would arch his back now and then while eating. Well, it turns out that his cough was another sign of reflux. He seems to have built up a little tolerance to the Zantac (which is very, very common) so that's something we will bring up with the Dr. at his 4 month (closer to 5 month!) well check up on Wednesday. The appointments are always exciting because we get to see how much he's grown, but tough when the Dr. brings out the needles :/

Another big announcement- Grayson has his first TOOTH! It's the left of his two bottom middle teeth. It was a pretty rough day when it cut through but at least he still slept at night! I'm pretty sure his other middle bottom tooth is about to cut through since he has been rather cranky and wakeful at night. I can't believe he is getting teeth!

We haven't started Grayson on solids yet but we'll be talking about that with his Dr. at his next appointment. Honestly, I can't wait! His first food is going to be an avocado, yum!

That's about it these days. We have been busy with the move to Davis and plan to take another trip up there with some more stuff soon. It's certainly nice to be able to make the move slowly rather than all at once. We are having a fine time getting to know our new little town! We've also had a great response in regards to renting our house. It was listed yesterday and we already have three people coming over to look today!

I'm off to go play with Grayson- it seems like he has more energy and personality ever day. He's out little charmer!

BIG boy!

Grayson is now weighing in at a whopping 17 pounds at three months! Our pediatrician was very happy to see how healthy and chubby our little guy is. Apparently, 17 pounds is the average weight of a 6 month old baby, not three month! He's not all chunk though, he's pretty long too :)

Other exciting news- Grayson rolled over for the first time! He has yet to pull off a repeat performance but gets very close to a full roll-over every time he is on his tummy. If he gets his head going in one direction the rest of his body follows, like it or not! We've been trying to get it on video but he seems to be a bit camera shy :)

There's not too much going on around here these days. Matt is on a short camping trip with Amanda and Torun and when he gets back we'll be gearing up for our trip out to Oklahoma! I'm both excited and nervous for Grayson's first plane ride. He's such an easy baby that I'm sure he will do very well!

Here are a few pictures from the past week or two...

Road Trippin'

We're finally home! The past week and a half has been full of sunshine, swimming, friends, fun and quite a few hours in the car! Last Sunday (Mother's Day :) ) we drove down to Palm Springs with my mom. We spent a few days there enjoying the warm sun and some quality time a the pool. We were lucky with the weather- it was in the upper 70's to mid 80's while we were there. Grayson, as usual, loved the pool. He's showing himself to be a true Pisces and loves being in the water, whether it's the bath or the pool.

Swimming with Dad and Mimi.

Cruisin' the pool with Mimi.

Enjoying the water with Dad. Matt had to borrow my mom's hat to keep the sun off of Grayson. I'm sure it's a look he never thought he'd sport at the pool :)

Passed out after all that swimming!

We came home from Palm Springs on Thursday and Friday we got back in the car and headed up to Healdsburg (wine country) with Sarah and Taylor to see Jackopierce. Jackopierce is a band that Matt and I both love and listened to A LOT of in college. We got an email when I was a few months pregnant about this small concert at the C. Donatello winery and decided that we just had to go and we'd figure out logistics when the time got closer. Sarah and Taylor babysat while Matt and I had a nice 'date night' at the concert. We're so lucky to have so many great friends, like Sarah and Taylor, who love Grayson and jump at the chance to watch him for a few hours.

Looking like such a big boy sitting up on the couch!

Taylor trying out the tire swing

Sarah noticed this funny picture. He has so much hair it's all you can see when he's in his bed!

C. Donatello winery- concert venue.

Grapes as far as you can see!

Our bottle of wine for dinner and our Jackopierce bottle!

On our way home from Healdsburg we stopped in Davis to look at a rental house. It's a nice little house close to campus and downtown Davis. I had never been to Davis so it was nice to see the town. It's definitely going to be a bit of a change living in a college town after being in Carmel for two years but it should be fun! It's nice to have found a house and see our plans for the next few years of our lives start to fall into place.

That's all for now. We've enjoyed our time on the road but it's nice to be home! Now we're looking forward to our trip out to Oklahoma and Denver in a few weeks!

Saturday Morning

I love sitting around in the morning and watching Grayson make new little discoveries. The other day he found his hands and couldn't stop looking at them. He had this look on his face that said 'Are these really mine? Why didn't anyone tell me I had these things?'. He's always been pretty good at finding his thumb- he had it in his mouth within an hour of being born- but now he is figuring out that he can soothe himself by sucking on it when he's upset or tired. He's fallen asleep sucking his thumb the past two nights, which, I've got to say is a welcome relief- no more putting the pacifier back in over and over! He loves to suck on something but was really bad at keeping the pacifier in which leads me to believe he just didn't like it.
He's started kicking both of his legs at the same time when he is under his farm animals, which apparently is a little developmental milestone. He is coo'ing and oooh'ing a LOT! I think we'll have a little talker on our hands when he gets a bit older. Even the pediatrician commented on how much he was 'talking'. Apparently he has a lot to say! He is smiling and giggling up a storm which just makes our day every time we see it! Sometimes he's not sure if he wants to fuss, cry or smile... he'll let out a little yell them break into a smile and laugh.

Here are a few pictures from the past few days...

We had some friends over for a post-marathon party. Here is Grayson with Jamie!

Funny picture with Dad.

Here are some pictures of Grayson playing with his farm animals this morning.

Kicking away!

Bacon... yes, we named his pig Bacon.

Pooped out after all his playing!

The Many Faces of Grayson

I mean really? Have you seen a happier baby getting his diaper changed??

'Hey mom! Are you about to change my diaper? I've got something for ya!'

'Thanks for wiping my butt!'

'I LOVE my new diaper!! New diapers are my favorite!'

On another note, we just got back from Grayson's two month well check-up. He took the vaccinations like a champ and now he's dozing off in his swing.

The big news is that he is 14 pounds and 24 3/4 inches, with a 41 1/4 cm head!!! He's a BIG BABY! Up FIVE pounds from his last appointment at one month- as the Dr. put it, I have some 'high octane' milk! His weight and height put him in the 90th percentile and his head is in the 75th. Looks like his body is catching up with his big ol' head!

Now that he weighs so much we are definitely starting to see more consistent sleeping patterns. His stretches at night have topped out at about 5 hours, the longest being almost 6! So, it's true- they actually DO start sleeping through the night at some point! Grayson is usually asleep around 9:30 and then wakes up at about 2:30-3 am for a feeding and then it's back to 2 1/2-3 hr stretches. It's amazing what 5 hours of uninterrupted sleep can do! We are really lucky to have a breastfed baby who sleeps so well!

Two Months!

I can't believe how times flies when there is a baby in the house! I know I've said that numerous times but, really, I still can't believe it. Grayson is doing very, very well. He's eating like a champ and growing like a little weed! He has his two month 'well check-up' next week and I'm looking forward to it and dreading it at the same time. I love seeing how much weight he's gained and how much he's grown, but this will be the appointment where he receives his first round of vaccinations. Everyone says it's worse for the parents than the baby because of the screaming and crying and I'll just have to keep telling myself that- that he isn't in as much pain as it seems. For this appointment we will see Dr. LaMothe since Dr. Jill was booked for the month. A very good friend of mine went to Dr. LaMothe when she was a kid and said she never cried when she got a shot- I loved hearing that he is a great shot giver! I think you'll all agree with me when I say that a shot has so much to do with the Dr/nurse who gives it. Sometimes you barely feel it and sometimes it feels like they're using you as their own personal voodoo doll; just jabbing away! I'll be sure to update you all with his new height and weight once we know. Matt did jump on the scale with him last week and according to our unofficial measurement he was 13.6 pounds!!! This means it's time for his medium gDiapers! He's turned into quite a little super soaker and the smalls didn't stand a chance. We switched him into his mediums last night and so far so good. They look a little big on him but so did the smalls only 6 weeks ago!!

Here are some pictures of the past few weeks. We've been busy!

He was definitely the best dressed at Easter!

He's had lots of good chats with his new best friend, Duckington Duckworth III.

He went swimming for the first time and L-O-V-E-D it!

He took some seriously cute pictures with Dad.

Got lots of silly hair-do's in the bath!

Alfalfa!

Bath time wouldn't be nearly as much fun if he didn't have as much hair as he does!

We have some fun trips coming up in the next two months. We'll be going down to Palm Springs with my mom for a few days for Mother's Day and then in mid-May we're going up to Napa with some friends for a small concert. Sarah and Taylor will be coming with us to watch Grayson while Matt and I go see a band we both loved in college, Jackopierce. Then, we're headed out to Oklahoma for the first week in June! On our way back we're stopping in Denver to see Farris, Beth and Cooper- Cooper and Grayson are going to be best friends, they just don't know it yet!

On another note, we've got some great news- Matt was just accepted into business school at UC Davis!!! Davis was his first choice since it's pretty close to Carmel (about a three hour drive) and has strong connections with the business community in our area. So, it looks like another move is in our near future but hopefully we'll be coming back to the area once he's done with school- and, of course, visiting very often! We've got some great friends here who went to Davis as undergrads and they have nothing but amazing things to say about the town. I've never seen the town so I'm looking forward to spending the day up there when Matt goes back to sit in on a class. It's in the Sacramento Valley, pretty much in between San Francisco and Tahoe. The weather will certainly be different- the average summer temps are in the 90's in... the average summer temperature in Carmel is somewhere in the high 60's/low 70's.

I think that's about it for now!
